The Coach House is in a conservation area, located beneath the historic outer wall of Clitheroe Castle.
Our client wanted to extend the stone built property to provide additional accomodation.
Our solution was a first floor extension above a flat roofed single storey garage and kitchen. This timber box is a lightweight timber framed structure, clad in larch timber boarding. Inside the box is a new double bedroom and a single bedroom with an external balcony. The balcony is positioned on the corner of the timber box, providing views of Clitheroe Castle.
We believe that the best of modern construction and design is almost always appropriate in a historic environment. The contrast enhances the old, places the new in its correct timescale and utilises improved design and construction techniques
